Line 6 Spider Jam amp – improvisation and recording using Fender Strat and Gibson les Paul guitars
Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Showing you how you can record a track on the new Spider Jam. Here I have used the backing track “un-dead” with the rhythm guitar set to clean Fender Mex strat used, key is Am/C. Lead is on the insane channel with reverb and some tape delay (all from amp). Gibson Les Paul Custom Faded is used for lead then I switch to the Fender to show you the difference in sound, I actually prefer the later. Sorry the sounds not great as this was done with a camera phone so it’s picking up the string noise which sounds a bit “dead”.
I couldnt recommend this amp more its excellent for low level bedroom playing ( still proving a great sound ) Lets face it we cant all play valve amps at home we have neighbours !!
PS Snap jacks are the way to go if you have two guitars – they’re awesome. (saves you breaking the jack plugs!!)

Me screwing around on electric guitar doing minor pentatonic
Tuesday, August 4th, 2009
Well, I figured I would videotape my progress as I try to venture out of my “box” or comfort zone of playing. I have been playing for a long time and for me the hardest thing to always do is play something different. Its mostly minor pentatonic scales. The guitar is my Fender Eric Johnson Strat through a simple $99 Line 6 practice amp. I screwup everywhere, as I am very rusty from my “old” days. If you are looking for a good sleep aid: Watch my video.

DEMONSTRATION: Comparison of amp sounds from a Mesa Boogie Roadking and Line Flextone III
ADDITIONAL PEDALS: None
GUITAR: Ibanez RG8527 J Custom
AMP: Line 6 Flextone III XL and Mesa Boogie Roadking
CAB: Mesa Boogie Recto 4×12
SONG: ‘The Prisoner’s Dilemma’ by Vinyl Future
This is a brief comparison of a Mesa Boogie Roadking Dual Rectifier versus a Line 6 Flextone III amp modeller set to a amp model to replicate the sound of a Mesa Boogie recifier.
Both amps belong to my bandmate Gary, (you can see my Tremoverb sitting on top of his RK. Gary plays a short riff from a song called ‘The Prisoner’s Dilemma’ by my band Vinyl Future.
The video was recorded at low volume, so in theory the Line 6 is at an advantage and should sound better. Both amps are dry i.e. no effects.
If you have any questions or if you wish to request a specific demonstration of any of the equipment shown in the video, feel free to contact me through youtube or email me at my bands website, at:
