Instead of a mahogany body, the Super Custom has a bookmatch solid maple back and exquisite 5-piece curly maple/walnut neck that both add a bit more brightness to the overall tone. A pair of '57 Classic humbuckers dish out that cherished "Patent Applied For" sound. The bridge pickup has zebra bobbins and the neck pickup has a gold cover. The Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge has more room to move the saddles for for greater intonation adjustment. The TOM and the stopbar tailpiece ensure total transfer of string energy to the maple body for maximum resonance and sustain. Gold tulip Grover tuners provide class and rock-solid tuning. Its asymmetrical shape is the most comfortable neck offered on a Les Paul Standard.The BurstBucker Pro humbuckers have Alnico V magnets with slightly mismatched windings to deliver an enhanced "Patent Applied For" tone with more bite and brilliance. All Les Paul Standards will be Plek'd on Gibson's Plek machines, a computer controlled device which scans and dresses a guitar under actual playing conditions, strung and tuned to pitch. This is a major breakthrough since the Plek machine identifies precisely what needs to be done for perfect fretwork, executes this rapidly, and delivers perfect results on the instrument when restrung.NOTE: To give you a choice of how your Les Standard should look, the pickguard is not attached but included in the case. To install the pickguard, holes will need to be drilled into the body.
